Pixel Hearts: Why Pix_Stitch Delivers Happiness to Kids

Partnering with Starlight was a natural fit for Pix_Stitch. “Starlight really aligned with what I stood for, my morals, my values,” he shares. “On this platform I've always been about impact over income. And that's truly where I consider, what cause could I make the greatest impact?” 

He understood the importance of supporting kids, which is the core to Starlight’s mission of delivering happiness to hospitalized kids. “They’re against all odds,” he says. “They’re in some of the scariest times of their lives. There are moments where there seems like there’s a lot of doubt or fear, there’s some light to be shined on their situation to help uplift them.” 

Pix_Stitch knew he could trust Starlight, too. He explains: 

“I had seen Starlight and their integration in the Twitchverse, where they were active in communities. They were very forthcoming with information and very transparent. I always audit charities that I do before I volunteer with them and work with their groups. They scored incredibly high with the watchdogs and charity groups. So I knew that Starlight checked all the boxes.” 

From then on, Pix_Stitch became a member of the Stream for Starlight community, hosting charity streams to provide joy during their hospital stays. 

“There are the necessary parts of what the kids have to go through and required from the medical professionals. But there's something inherently special about that other part to make their stay that much more enjoyable, to really lift them up and show them, ‘Hey, you've got all of these things happening. It's okay. Here are some resources to help and support you.’” - Pix_Stitch 

Pix_Stitch loves seeing the power of community to make a difference in someone’s life. He reflects: 

“Community truly comes together, and folks really understand we're making impact, not just through Starlight, but also as an extension of that, too. And that ties all back to kids and the real lives and situations of what we all go through. That's what keeps me going. To really see you've connected. You've made a difference in someone's life having never met them. That will always resonate in my heart.”

With the donations that Pix_Stitch and his community raise and give, they deliver Starlight programs like Gaming and Toy Deliveries like art, crafts and LEGO to hospitalized kids. With these resources, kids can unlock creativity and happiness by connecting with something that they love.

Pix_Stitch’s favorite memory with Starlight is getting to tell the full story of a fundraising campaign: the preparation, the hard work during the campaign, and knowing who the funds impacted. 

“Starlight had sent out the actual certificates for where things went, which locations [Saint Louise Regional Hospital & Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center] all the money [funding a Starlight Nintendo Gaming Station], all the time and all the efforts and energies of what we put in,” he said. “It’s always nice to tell the story in full.” 

Even as Pix_Stitch continues to make a difference in the lives of hospitalized kids, our work is not done. 

More than 5 million kids are hospitalized each year and need happiness from Starlight programs to brighten their stay.
